Counseling Center

The Niskayuna K-12 Counseling Department is committed to providing a caring and supportive program. Reporting an Absence

To report a student absence at Niskayuna High School, families should contact Karen Zawistowski directly at kzawistowski@niskyschools.org or 518-382-2511, ext. 21700 with the following information:

  • Student’s full name
  • Dates of absence
  • Reason for absence (excused absences include doctor’s appointments, religious observances, sickness, college visits or a death or emergency in the immediate family)

If families are unable to call or email, they should send a signed note with the student on the day of their return. Notes should be submitted to Mrs. Zawistowski in the West Office.

Nurse/Health Information

The goal of school health services is to maintain optimum health for all children, enabling them to realize their full potential. Niskayuna health services personnel include 11 school nurses and one school physician. Visit the health services page.
