Special Events and Programs at Craig

There are several special events and programs each year that bring our school community together and enrich life at Craig School.

Craig Cares Projects

Craig students, parents and staff demonstrate caring in their community by
volunteering at the Regional Food Bank. Throughout the school year, we support local charitable efforts so that we can practice compassion in our community and to educate our students about how they can make a difference. At times, individual classrooms conduct compassion projects that may include: making cards for Veterans, collecting items to support a classroom in need and other such projects. Craig Cares Projects are typically school-wide projects and volunteer based. We thank the community for their generosity in supporting those in need.

Learning Fair

Annually, Craig has offered students an opportunity to present their own research, special talent, or activity during a Learning Fair. The excitement children demonstrate as they share their knowledge
is contagious, and this special event always draws many visitors after school to view the projects and celebrate learning!

Community Day

We held our first every community day in September 2012. This event was an idea by a number of teachers and the principal to build teamwork among children from different grade levels. The day began with an all school assembly followed by teamwork field day events that required staff and children to work in multi-age teams (formed from their bus community) on outside teamwork activities. The day also included grade levels working together on a visual representation of teamwork; the grade level posters were placed in the halls of our school for Back to School Nights.

Assemblies

Assemblies are an important part of the Craig School learning experience. Our students usually have a Fire Safety Assembly in October. Students also participate in monthly “We Can” assemblies to highlight learning and to promote school spirit. PTO also provides our school with wonderful enriching assemblies throughout the year. Past assemblies have included guest authors, science presentations, guest musicians, historical reenactments, and musical groups.
