Important changes to school meals program

Dear Families:

The federal waivers in response to the pandemic which allowed free school meals to be provided to all students are ending for the upcoming 2022-23 school year. Due to this change, you will need to complete and submit a free/reduced meal application after July 1, 2022 to determine if your child is eligible for free or reduced-price meals at school for the 2022-23 school year.

Access to the 2022-23 online application through www.lunchapplication.com and updated meal pricing will be available after July 1, 2022. Paper application forms will also be available at each school building.

Questions regarding free/reduced meal applications can be directed to susan.frank@neric.org or 518.464.5133.

Summer Meals program

Please note that due to the expiration of COVID waivers from the federal government, there will no longer be free grab-and-go meal distribution at Van Antwerp Middle School or Craig Elementary School this summer. There continue to be a number of nearby locations throughout Schenectady County where families can access free summer meals for those 18 years of age or younger as part of SiCM’s annual Summer Meals program. To locate a Summer Meals site closest to you, click here to visit SiCM.

Sincerely,

Megan Bates
