Capital project improvements underway at high school; Reminder to follow all posted signs in construction zone

Construction at the high school athletic facility, Phase 1B of the capital project, is continuing over the summer, with the work focused on expanding the parking area, installing new athletics fields and adding new pedestrian paths.

For your safety, it’s important that staff, students and community members follow all posted signs and directions in and around the construction zone at all times. The contractor staging area and temporary fencing are set up around the parking area along Balltown Road, athletic fields, football stadium and track. The sidewalk and entrances on the north end of the building located near the pool are closed. To enter and exit this section of the building, use the double doors near Old Cafeteria (Door 10).

The capital project includes substantial upgrades to the outdoor athletic facilities at Niskayuna High School. These include work to address safety issues for athletes and spectators, including improving site accessibility, playing conditions, and traffic flow and parking.

Phase 1B construction will be completed in stages over the next 12-24 months, with work on the high school parking lot expected to be completed by fall 2022.
