Nineteen Niskayuna High School student-athletes sign Letters of Intent for intercollegiate athletics

A group of 19 student-athletes took the next step into their futures by signing their National Letters of Intent in a ceremony at Niskayuna High School on Wednesday, Nov. 15.

Student-athletes were joined by their families, coaches, teachers, and school administrators to celebrate this momentous occasion. High School Principal John Rickert briefly highlighted the accomplishments of each student-athlete, followed by the signing of their letter. A listing of each student-athlete is below.

For the student-athletes, the letter represents a formal commitment to the athletic program at their respective colleges and universities, and it also signifies the opportunity for funding for tuition, room and board, and other expenses to be funded over the next five years.

Niskayuna High School started the signing ceremony tradition at in 1997 and it has become a high school tradition. Since 1959, Niskayuna has had over 700 graduates compete in college athletics, with many going on to become Olympians and professional athletes.

“We are honored  to celebrate the accomplishments of our student-athletes who have earned scholarships to schools throughout the country,” Rickert said. “These student-athletes are not only the best in Section 2, not only the best in New York State, but in the country.”
