Each year, Niskayuna High School welcomes several international students through the International Scholars Program. Students live with a local host family, take high school classes, and learn about American life and culture by becoming members of the Niskayuna community.
For the 2026-27 school year, a host family is needed for one female student from China entering into grade 11. The family would host the student from late August 2026 through the end of June 2027.
Hosting can be a rewarding experience for both students and host families. For many, it marks the beginning of a friendship that lasts a lifetime.
To learn more about what serving as a host family involves, please contact International Scholars Program coordinators Bryan Mattice at bmattice@niskyschools.org or Kelly Lehmann at klehmann@niskyschools.org. The program coordinators can answer questions, discuss the host family selection process and connect you with previous host families to hear about their international student experiences. They can also provide additional details about the individual students in need.
