Student sitting at a desk holding a paintbrush Niskayuna High School is offering more than 30 college/university in the high school (CHS/UHS) courses during the 2025-26 school year, including 11 that are being offered for the first time!

Students enrolled in these courses can earn college credit upon successful completion. Each CHS/UHS course carries three, four or six college credits, depending on the course. A variety of courses are available in subject areas such as art and design, business, engineering, English, family and consumer sciences, math, science, social studies and world languages.

“We are committed to developing a curriculum that provides challenges for students at all levels,” said Assistant Superintendent of Curriculum & Instruction Jess Moore. “These programs and partnerships at our high school are opportunities for students to explore advanced coursework in different subjects areas, and to prepare for their futures with more rigor and excitement.”

The courses are offered in partnership with colleges and universities around the state, including Rochester Institute of Technology, Russell Sage College, SUNY Albany, SUNY Schenectady and Syracuse University.

“Expanding our partnerships with our local higher education institutions makes our offerings broader and gives our students the option to earn college credit before graduation,” said Niskayuna High School Principal Anthony Malizia. “We want all students to graduate from NHS ready to succeed in their chosen path.”

NEW NHS courses that are eligible for college credit through local partners institutions include:

“This partnership creates an exceptional opportunity for our students to get a head start on their college education without leaving the familiar, supportive environment of Niskayuna High School,” said Director of Mathematics, Computer Science and Business K-12 Ashley Rickert. “Students benefit from significant cost savings while experiencing college-level rigor and expectations that will serve them well in their post-secondary pursuits.”
