Administrative Staffing Update: Welcoming Michael Elliott and Robert McCloskey

The district is happy to welcome Michael Elliott and Robert McCloskey to Niskayuna.

The Board of Education recently appointed Michael Elliott to be the Director of World Language, Social Studies, and English as a New Language. Elliott came to Niskayuna from the City School District of Albany, where he worked for nearly twenty years, most recently serving as Instructional Supervisor for Secondary Social Studies and World Languages and principal of the Discovery Academy. His experience includes developing curriculum with an equity lens to advance student learning.

The Board also appointed Robert McCloskey to be Interim Director of Elementary Special Education. McCloskey was formerly Director of Special Education at Ichabod Crane Central School District where he served for 15 years, as well as Director of Special Programs at Fonda-Fultonville Central School District. McCloskey also worked at the Hamilton-Fulton-Montgomery BOCES where he developed the special education work-study program. His extensive experience includes grants administration and building community partnerships to serve students.
