As a community, our district strives to create a positive school climate and educational experience where everyone feels safe and welcomed. To ensure we are making progress towards our goals and to better align our resources with the needs identified by our school community, the Niskayuna Central School District will be conducting a school climate survey for students, staff and families this fall.
- Students in grades 6-12 will have the opportunity to complete the online survey in their social studies class period during the week of Monday, Oct. 20, 2025.
- Families and staff members will receive an email with a link to the survey beginning Monday, Oct. 20, 2025. The survey link will remain open through Wednesday, Nov. 5.
- Parents and guardians will receive a survey link and can complete it for each building that their child attends.
- Separate survey links will be available for instructional and noninstructional staff.
The survey, which was originally created by the United States Department of Education as a tool for states, districts and schools as a common, reliable and nationally-validated measure of school climate, is voluntary and anonymous. It is administered to students, parents and school personnel using an online platform and includes questions about demographic information, like race, ethnicity and gender identity, as well as perceptions of the school environment on topics ranging from safety, violence and drug and alcohol use. View the survey questions.
Participation is completely voluntary and anonymous; no personally identifiable information will be requested or collected from any survey respondent. Your responses will help us better understand our community’s perceptions on important topics that impact teaching and learning, and ensure we are working to improve our school environment and culture by creating learning experiences that are safe, welcoming, and constructive for all, while fostering belonging and empowerment.
The school climate assessment helps measure our district’s progress over time as we work towards our long-term vision of being an equitable community of lifelong learners. Your input is important to us and will help inform our decision-making around where to put our focus in the coming months and years to improve the well-being of our students, faculty and staff.
