Superintendent Search Update | Oct. 4, 2021

Dear Niskayuna School Community,

On behalf of the Board of Education, I want to provide you with a brief update on the superintendent search process. The application period opened this past Friday and on our website you can view the search brochure and search video that we are using as part of our outreach for the position.

The web page and search brochure include a description of the characteristics that we believe will be vital for the next superintendent of our district. This profile was heavily informed by the substantial community input we received through the online survey and stakeholder forums. There were a total of 526 completed surveys and 62 participants in the forums, and we thank everyone who took the time to share their perspective. We value everyone’s time and input.

The application period will close on Oct. 31, and will be followed by the Board of Education conducting multiple rounds of interviews prior to deciding on the successful candidate. We are focused on selecting the very best candidate to lead our district forward.

While this is a time of transition, we also look to the future with optimism and excitement. We will certainly update you when there is information to share, which is likely to be after the new year based on our timeline.

As you likely know, Dr. Juliette Pennyman is beginning with the district as interim superintendent this week and will be in the role until a permanent superintendent takes office.

Thank you again to those who provided valuable feedback and for your ongoing partnership.

Kimberly Tully
Board of Education President
