Board of Education Policy 8370: Instruction on Days of Religious Observance

The Board of Education recognizes the importance of religious values in modem day society and understands that students may be absent from school in order to pursue such observance.

When it is anticipated that students may be absent from class due to religious observances, the district shall maintain an effective balance between providing instruction to students who attend classes while not adversely affecting those who are absent because of their religious beliefs. An effort will be made to avoid introducing new topics on such days of observance. In addition, appropriate effort will be made to assist those absent to complete all work missed in a sensitive, cooperative, and timely manner.
