Board of Education Policy 5000: Student Policies Goals

Students are the focal point of all district operations. The Board of Education recognizes the individual worth of each student. The Board and staff accept the responsibility of helping all students develop their capacity for intellectual, physical, emotional and social growth. Because student growth is influenced by home and school environments, the school district will strive to create a partnership in which the student may learn to live and adapt successfully in an ever-changing world, in order to become a responsible and contributing member of a global society.

The Board and district staff shall work together with parents to achieve the following goals:

1. to enable students to realize the objectives listed in the district’s mission statement (Policy 0200);

2. to observe and protect the legal rights of students; and

3. to promote faithful attendance and good work.
