The Niskayuna Schools Department of Music Education serves as a resource for the development of musical knowledge, musical skill through performance, aesthetic exploration, attitude development, and provides for the personal growth of each individual. The primary goal of this department is to promote music as an art, through self-discipline and self-expression. In the spring of 2014, the NAMM Foundation recognized the Niskayuna Central School District for its outstanding commitment to music education by naming it one of 375 “Best Communities for Music Education (BCME)” in the country.
