Rosendale Elementary School opened its doors to students in 1956. Today, Rosendale serves approximately 375 students in grades K-5.
School Arrival and Dismissal Times
The instructional day begins at 7:55 a.m. Students should not arrive at school before 7:45 a.m. Students are dismissed at 2:10 p.m.

Meet the Principal
Luke Rakoczy comes to Rosendale from Van Antwerp Middle School, where he was the principal at Van Antwerp Middle School for 19 years. He has also served as a K-12 Social Studies Director at Mohansen schools and as a social studies teacher at Farnsworth Middle School.
Luke brings a wealth of experience to this new role, along with a strong student-centered style of leadership and a deep understanding of, and commitment to, our greater Niskayuna community.
During his time in Niskayuna, Rakoczy has also served interim roles as the Director of Technology and MS Director of Social Studies. He has become known for supporting teaming, collaborative teaching and supporting the varied needs of middle level learners. During his time at Mohonasen schools, he supported social studies instruction with teachers in grades K-12 and chaired the district’s teacher mentor program.
“I’m looking forward to a new opportunity and a chance to learn and to join the faculty and staff at Rosendale,” Rakoczy said following his appointment by the board.
Rakoczy is a graduate of The University at Albany for both his undergraduate and graduate degrees. He was also an All-American and Academic All-American athlete at UAlbany.
