K-12 School Counseling Overview
Niskayuna Central School District’s K-12 school counseling program is a comprehensive, developmental, and preventative program designed to address the academic, career, and social-emotional needs of all students from kindergarten through twelfth grade. It works in collaboration with students, families, teachers, and the community to provide continuous support throughout their educational journey.
Mission
The Niskayuna K-12 Counseling Department is committed to providing a caring and supportive program. We inspire our students to develop academically, socially and emotionally to become strong and responsible citizens who are well prepared for a diverse and ever-changing world.
Elementary School Counseling Program
K-Grade 5
Fostering a positive learning environment, teaching essential life skills, and providing early intervention and support services.
Middle School Counseling Program
Grade 6 at Van Antwerp
Grades 7-8 at Iroquois
Supporting students through early adolescence, fostering resilience, promoting academic success, and helping them explore future career and educational pathways as they transition to high school.
High School Counseling Program
Grades 9-12
Providing a roadmap for success, focusing on academic planning, career exploration, and preparation for post-secondary education or other pathways.
