At their regular meeting on Tuesday, Nov. 18, the Board of Education reviewed updates made to the 2025-26 District Wide Safety Plan. The changes are related to automated external defibrillator (AED) equipment and school safety training as part of Cardiac Emergency Response Plans. They follow Desha’s Law which was signed by Governor Hochul on July 25, 2025. Initial changes required by this law were adopted within building-level emergency plans prior to the beginning of the school year.
This update opens a 30-day public comment period before going back to the board for approval in January. Those wishing to make comments can do so by emailing publiccomment@niskyschools.org.
The board must approve the plan and submit it to the State Education Department by Jan. 20, 2026.
