About the Board of Education
The Niskayuna Board of Education is a seven-member, all-volunteer board elected by the community that is responsible for the governance of the school district. There are also non-voting student representatives from the junior and senior class in order to incorporate student perspectives directly into the Board’s work.
Meeting Schedule
Board meetings are held at 6 p.m. on Tuesday evenings in the District Office Board Room at 1430 Balltown Road, Niskayuna, unless otherwise noted. Meeting agendas are posted on the Niskayuna BoardDocs system prior to each meeting. Meeting minutes and video recordings are available in BoardDocs after they are approved at the subsequent meeting. If you are looking for minutes from a meeting that is not archived in BoardDocs, please contact Communications.

Board of Education Meeting Livestreams
Board of Education meetings are livestreamed via YouTube. The web address for each meeting’s livestream will be posted on BoardDocs prior to each meeting. If you need access to closed captioning for meeting livestreams, please contact Communications Office to coordinate this.
Board Committees and School/Organization Liaisons
The Board of Education maintains an Audit Committee and Policy Committee and Board members also serve as representatives on various committees and as liaisons to schools to enhance two-way communications.

Speaking at a School Board Meeting
The Board of Education welcomes district residents and staff to share their comments and concerns. Time is set aside on each regular meeting agenda for this purpose. Comments should be respectful and clear, and may not include concerns or complaints about individuals, or other topics that would be inappropriate for public discussion. A sign in sheet for those wishing to take advantage of Privilege of the Floor will be provided at each regular meeting.
Meeting Agendas, Minutes and Materials: BoardDocs
The Board uses an online meeting document portal called BoardDocs for meeting agendas, materials, and minutes. Supporting materials for each meeting are generally available on BoardDocs on the Monday before the meeting. BoardDocs also contains minutes of past meetings.
