Community Conversations
Dear Families, Colleagues and Community Members:
As you likely know, our school district has entered a period of planning for a significant capital project. This process is all about the academic programs we want for our students in Niskayuna and the facilities we need to provide these learning experiences. We are also considering if there are other grade-level organizations for our schools that would be more effective.
This is a process that requires as much stakeholder involvement as possible. We’re all in this together.
For that reason, we have scheduled three Capital Project Community Conversations for the coming weeks:
- Thursday, July 11: 6-8 p.m., Niskayuna High School Little Theater
- Thursday, July 25: 6-8 p.m., Niskayuna High School Little Theater
- Wednesday, July 31: 1-3 p.m., Niskayuna High School Little Theater
The program for each session will be the same. I hope you can attend one.
If you plan to come, please RSVP at https://forms.gle/Lwa9AKGwE2vaF6uXA.
The agenda will include small-group conversations. Having people register ahead of time will help us know how many facilitators we will need. We also have some faculty and staff forums planned for the fall in addition to these summer sessions that are open to all.
All feedback will be compiled and shared with the Board of Education as it begins to make decisions related to the grade-level organization of our schools, learning opportunities for students, and capital improvements. We will continue to keep our community informed throughout this process.
I hope to see you at one of the forums and wish you and your family a smooth end to the school year and a great summer.
Sincerely,
Cosimo Tangorra, Jr.
Superintendent of Schools
P.S. The recent Thoughtexchange on this topic was very helpful in setting the stage for the conversations we are about to have. More than 700 people participated.
