Summer construction at Van Antwerp/District Office to impact parking and building access

Visitors will use the Story Avenue side of the building during roofing work

The replacement of the Van Antwerp roof that was part of the facilities project voters approved this past December will begin full-time on Monday, June 26. This is is an important improvement, but the work will impact parking and building access this summer.

All areas of the District Office and the Van Antwerp main office will remain open for business during construction. However, the rest of the school will not be accessible for visitors or activities.

Beginning on June 26, there will be no building entry or parking along Dexter Street. Visitors to either the District Office or the school will use the parking areas in front of the school along Story Avenue. Likewise, please use the entrances on the Story Avenue side of the building.

The entrance closest to Van Antwerp Road (in the auditorium area) will be used for the District Office. The Van Antwerp main office entrance will continue to be open for those who need to come to the school office. There will be signage directing visitors in the appropriate direction.

The work will be substantially complete by the time school opens for the 2017-18 school year. We will keep staff members, parents and community members informed of the progress.

In addition to the Van Antwerp roof replacement, the roof structure at the Hillside Avenue bus garage is being repaired this summer. The remainder of the facilities work voters approved in December is slated for the summer of 2018.

The district appreciates the support and cooperation of our community as we undertake facilities improvements.
