NHS Science Department to host lecture on invasive species and biodiversity

The Niskayuna High School science department is hosting a guest lecturer on Thursday, November 15 at 7 p.m. in the Little Theater. Jeffrey Corbin, a biology professor at Union College and a Niskayuna parent, will be talking on invasive species and biodiversity.

About Jeffrey Corbin

Corbin examines the ecological effects of invasive species and how restoration can reverse the ways that humans are changing our biosphere.

He is plant ecologist who studies questions at the intersection of community and ecosystem ecology. Corbin’s primary focus is on understanding the impacts of invasive species on biodiversity and soil nutrient status. He also studies tools to restore habitats that have been degraded by, for example, species invasions. He is committed to forming partnerships with habitat managers and policy-makers so that his findings can be applied in the real world.
