Assignment:

Niskayuna High School - 10 months per year; 30 hours per week

Requirement:

  • Graduation from a regionally accredited or New York State registered college with an Associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience in youth service work, recreation, education or any other activity involving service to or activities with youth; OR
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience in youth service work, recreation, education or any other activity involving service to or activities with youth, which shall have involved setting limits, enforcing rules, or applying defined sanctions; OR
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma, possession of New York State Security Guard Certification, and (2) years of experience in youth service work, recreation, education or any other activity involving service to or activities with youth; OR
  • Graduation from high school or possession of a high school equivalency diploma and two (2) years of experience as a Security Guard, Security Worker or closely related field, which experience shall have involved service to, interaction with or activities with youth; OR
  • Any equivalent combination of training and experience as defined above.

Additional Requirements:

The position of Security Monitor is a competitive Schenectady County Civil Service position. Candidates must be reachable on the currently Civil Service List. For a provisional appointment, candidates must pass a civil service exam.

Duties:

  • Patrols school halls, parking lots and other parts of school buildings and grounds to protect persons and property, maintain order and insure compliance with school rules.
  • Reports to principal on problems, incidents and conditions affecting security.
  • Interacts and develops rapport with students in order to assist students or refer them to someone who can help them.
  • Assists the Principal regarding on-going investigations as directed.
  • Participates in the development and implementation of district security plans.
  • Does related work as required.

Salary:

Per NSDEA Contract - $17.43 per hour
