Gov. Andrew Cuomo announced during his press conference today (Friday, May 1) that schools will be closed through the remainder of the 2019-20 academic year due to the COVID-19 public health crisis.
During this time, we will continue to provide for continuity of instruction, food for students in need, and work with regional partners to make childcare resources available as we have been since school closed in mid-March. Although our school buildings are closed, we are very much here for our students, families and community.
We know that this announcement raises many questions. We will be working our way through the issues, and will continue to provide our community with updates as frequently as needed.
With this news today, our thoughts are with our students, and especially our senior class. While we are considering the best way to mark milestones and achievements in our current circumstances, we know there is no substitute for being together at those times.
Our hearts go out to all of our students and we can’t wait to welcome them back to Niskayuna schools when we are able.
We are grateful for your flexibility, patience and partnership.
