First Day of School Moved to Sept. 14

Dear Niskayuna Families,

We want to let you know that we have decided to move the first student day of the school year to Monday, Sept. 14. This will allow us to have four dedicated staff development days prior to the start of the school year. This time is critical to making sure that our students get the best possible start to the year, considering the changes that are necessary due to COVID-19 and school reopening.

As we have shared previously, we are continuing to adjust and refine our reopening plan as the year approaches. We will provide as much notice as possible when anything changes. Please know that we are committed to keeping health and safety at the forefront of our decision making and maximizing student learning.

In light of the August 24 deadline for families to let us know if they are choosing all-remote learning and the complexities involved with scheduling this year, information such as class assignments, course schedules and bus schedules will also be out later than usual. This information may not be sent to you until the week of Aug. 31.

Our school district website continues to be the best source of information about reopening. There you can find our plan, information about the upcoming reopening meetings, and frequently asked questions.
