What are your after school plans? (i.e., if you plan to head to college, please write the college’s name and what you plan to major)
After high school, I’m going to attend SUNY Binghamton for Computer Science.

Is there a particular moment or memory that stands out for you during your time at Niskayuna High School?
I had a lot of fun playing games and goofing off with friends after school and on the weekends. Cool guys.

I am told you were a member of the concert band and jazz, what instrument did you play and what made you choose that instrument?
I play the trombone. I knew that I wanted to play a band instrument because it’s a sort of family tradition, but I couldn’t decide on my own what to play. My friend at the time told me that we should both play trombone so I just went with it.

What do you love about music? Favorite memory during competitions?
I love playing music because I get to perform for others. My favorite memory from competitions has to be my 10th grade Jazz NYSSMA performance because I received a perfect score and that landed me in fist chair at NYSBDA Honors Jazz ensemble the following year.

Do you plan to pursue music after high school?
Music is a must-have on my after high school plans.I’m not going to major in music, but I will definitely continue taking lessons and playing in ensembles.

Is there an achievement or contribution that you are most proud of?
I am proud of my time working after school in child care. I hope that I made a positive impact on the lives of the kids I’ve worked with.

What was your favorite thing about high school?
My favorite part about high school was getting to play trombone in so many ensembles both in and out of school. I really got a rich and diverse musical experience with all of the different students and conductors I played along with the many types of ensembles I played it and the music I performed.

Were you a part of any sports, extracurricular activities, clubs, etc.?
For extracurricular activities I played trombone (surprise, right?) and was a part of the National Honors Society at school. Outside of school, I skied recreationally in the winters and spent Spring through Fall racing go-karts around the North East.

If you could give your freshman self advice, what would it be?
Take harder classes. Challenge yourself more.

Where do you hope to see yourself in five years?
I have no idea where I want to be in 5 years. The decision between finishing with undergrad or going to graduate school is hard. If anything, I just want to be happy knowing I made the right decisions.

What will you miss about high school?
This is very cliche, but I have a lot of good friends here that I’ll miss seeing in the halls and hanging out with each day.
