Birchwood Plan for Picking Up Student Belongings

May 26, 2020

Dear Birchwood Families,

We hope this letter finds you and your family well.  Thank you for all you have been doing to support your child while we continue with our online learning!  We appreciate your extra efforts as we work together to keep growing and learning.

We have been creating a plan to have you be able to pick up your child’s belongings from school that will follow current social distancing protocols. We have planned for the pick up of student belongings and the drop off of school materials next week, June 1 and June 2, 2020.  All items belonging to your child will be gathered together by your child’s teacher and placed in a plastic bag with your child’s name and teacher name on it.

All parents may drive into the school parking lot, where there will be multiple lanes available, if needed, pictured in the following link in yellow (https://drive.google.com/file/d/12p6x8QNbdUEHQ3_RxxvHgdKi3z9vlKAT/view?usp=sharing). Parents should plan to come on their assigned day and time (see schedule below) and staff will greet you at your car and deliver your child’s belongings to you.   It will be essential that you follow the protocols below on the day of your visit.

Procedures and Protocols to follow:

  • Stay Home if you or someone in your household has tested positive for, or has symptoms of COVID-19 and/or is feeling unwell.
  • Please follow the directions of the school staff and park in the assigned spot.·
  • Remain in your vehicle so that the appropriate social distancing can be maintained.
  • Please wear a mask.
  • A staff member will ask you for your child’s(ren) name, grade and teacher.
  • Your child’s belongings will be brought to your car and placed in your trunk or back seat.
  • For families with multiple children, you will pick up all students’ belongings in one visit.
  • We ask that you return library books or any classroom textbooks at this time as well.
  • If your child has a school instrument that needs to be returned, please plan to do so on this day.
  • If you need to retrieve your child’s medication from the school nurse, please email her directly at: ktowne@niskyschools.org
  • You will be keeping the Chromebooks until a later date once new learning has ended in mid June.
