Twelve student-athletes from NHS sign Division I and II Letters of Intent

Aidan Byrne, Lacrosse, State University of New York at Stony Brookstudent photo

Aidan is a 2-sport athlete as a member of our Boys Basketball team and our state champion lacrosse team. He played a key role on defense during 2015 state title run.
He will be a 4-year Varsity Letterman. He has scored 33 goals and added 11 assists in his career. During his 3 seasons so far, he has been a Suburban Council Champion, a Regional Champion and a Section 2 Champion for all 3 years.
He will graduate in June of 2016 with an Advanced Regents Diploma.
His parents are: William and Angela Byrne
His lacrosse coach is Mike Vorgang and he will attend the State University of New York at Stony Brook where he will play lacrosse for the Seawolves under Coach Jim Nagle. Stony Brook is located on Long Island and they are a part of the America East Conference.

 

Noah Chaskin, Crew, United States Naval Academystudent photo

Noah was part of the team that won the gold medal at Stotesbury Cup in Philadelphia with a time of 5:01.39, which resulted in a Junior Quad National Championship. The actual cup is on display in my office.
Noah is considered to be one of the very best rowers in the country having been selected for the US Junior National Championship team.
His coach is Jonathan Markowicz and his parents are Adam and Regina Chaskin.
He has been recruited by every major Ivy League rowing program in the country.
In addition to being a 4-year rower, he is also the president of Niskayuna High School's Class of 2016.
He will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with an Honors Endorsement for his performance on State Assessments.
He received a nomination from Senator Kirsten Gillibrand's office for an appointment to the United States Naval Academy.

 

Mstudent photoarisa Divietro, Lacrosse, The University of North Carolina

Marissa is a 3-year member of our girls' varsity lacrosse team. She has totaled 85 goals and 51 assists during her career. She has been playing lacrosse competitively since the age of 6. She was a major contributor on last year's Section 2 Championship Team.
She is also a member our school's cross country team and this winter, will be participating in indoor track.
She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma and an Honors Endorsement for her performance on the state assessments.
Her coach is Jason Bach. Her parents are Ralph and Lisa Divietro and her aunt, Phyllis Warren, is here as well.
She will attend the University of North Carolina, located in Chapel Hill and will play for Coach Jenny Levy, who is the 6th winningest women's lacrosse coach in NCAA history. She will play in the highly competitive ACC conference for the Tar Heels.


student photoAlexa Franze, Soccer, The State University of New York at Binghamton

Alexa played a key role in last year's Section 2 Championship team. She was one of the top defenders in the area. She has been a member of the varsity girls' lacrosse team since 9th grade. She has also scored 6 goals and tallied 3 assists. In addition, she was a top defender for our Section 2 Champion Girls Soccer Team.
She will graduate in June with an Advanced Regents Diploma.
Her Coach is Jason Bach. Her parents are Robin Franze and Susan Franze.
She will attend SUNY Binghamton and play lacrosse for Coach Stephanie Allen in the America East Conference.

Alissa has been a key member of the girls' lacrosse team for the past 3 seasons. She has totaled 76 goals and tallied 21 assists. She is one of the top returning scorers on the Section 2 Championship team. Like her sister, she also has been a member of our girls' soccer program and helped them to a Section 2 Championship.
She will also graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma in June.
Her Coach is Jason Bach. Her parents are Robin Franze and Susan Franze.
Coach Stephanie Allen is getting 2 great ones at SUNY Binghamton as they challenge for the America East title in the upcoming years.



student photoHannah Munro, Soccer, Sacred Heart University

Hannah is a 3-year member of our Varsity girls' soccer team. She is one of the top scorers in the Suburban Council and in Section 2.
She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma in June.
Her coach is Bryce Colby. Her parents are Michael and Doris Munro.
She will play for Sacred Heart University in the Northeast Conference under Coach Kim Banner.

 



 

student photoDylan Pantalone, Lacrosse, Siena College

Dylan is also a member of the 2015 State Champion Lacrosse Team. He has been the Face-Off specialist for the past 3 seasons and is considered to be one of the best in New York State. His career face-off percentage is 71.3%. He was a 2015 US Lacrosse All-American and a 2014 and 2015 Under Armour Underclassmen All American.
Like Aidan, he has also been a Suburban Council Champion, Section 2 Champion and Regional Champion for all 3 of his seasons.
He will join his older brother Tyler at Siena College and play lacrosse on the Metro Atlantic Coast Conference.

Abbey has been a key member of the lacrosse program over the past 2 seasons. She has scored 26 goals and totaled 6 assists.
Her parents are James and Melissa O'Brien.
Alabama Huntsville is a Division II school that competes in the Gulf South Conference. Abbey will play for Coach Coach Gail Wallach





student photoEllie Petraccione, Lacrosse, Marist College

Ellie is a 3-year member of our girls' varsity lacrosse program. She has 39 goals and has 33 assists.
She will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma in June.
Her Coach is Jason Bach and her parents are Nick and Lisa Petraccione. Nick was the original girls' lacrosse coach here at Niskayuna and played a key role in the growth of the program.
She will attend Marist in Poughkeepsie, New York and will play for Coach Jessica O'Brien in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference.



student photoCharles Ragone, Cross Country, Track, University at Albany

Charlie is a 4-year member of our varsity cross country and track programs. He has one of the fastest mile times in the entire area with 4:19 seconds at the State Championships last Spring. He is also a part of our 4 by 400 relay team and 4 by 800 relay team. Charlie started off this cross country season by rallying in the Niskayuna Ekiden with the anchor leg to lead Niskayuna with a 1st place finish.
Charlie will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma in June.
He has been coached by Jason DeRocco for past 4 years.
His parents are Eileen and Brien Ragone.
He will attend the University at Albany and compete in the America East Conference under Coach Roberto Vives.


student photoRyan Sitterly, Lacrosse, Florida Southern

Ryan will be a 2-year varsity performer. He played a key role on defense last year during the State Championship run. He is a 2-time Sectional and Regional Champion.
His coach is Mike Vorgang and his parents are Todd and Karen Sitterly.
He will study Graphic Design at Florida Southern, located in Lakeland, Florida. This is a Division II school in the Sunshine State Conference. He will play for coach Marty Ward.




 

student photoAnna Vitolins, Swimming, State University of New York University at Buffalo

Anna will attend the University at Buffalo, the largest in the State University of New York system. Anna swims for Schenectady-Saratoga Swim Club, where she has achieved the Winter Juniors standard in the 100 breast. She is also accomplished in IM, free, and fly. Representing Niskayuna High School at the New York Girls Public High School Association Championships last November, she was an "A" finalist in the 100 breast and a "B" finalist in the 200 IM. Anna also led off Niskayuna's 200 free relay and anchored their 400 free relay.
Anna will graduate with an Advanced Regents Diploma with an Honors Endorsement in June.
She is coached by Steve Hall and her parents are Andrew and Johna Viitolins.
She will swim for Coach Andy Bashor and complete in the Colonial Athletic Association.
