When the finalists for the Fourth Annual 15 Minutes Max Student
Film Festival were chosen, one Niskayuna High School student
found her film had made the cut.
Larissa Vassolas, now a junior, created the short film After Image during her sophomore year Studio in Video class. It is the story of a teenage girl with a mental disorder who is looking for further treatment of her condition as she has started to hallucinate that another girl is following her.
In producing the short film, Vassolas wanted audience members to question what they were seeing on the screen and ultimately question their own concept of reality.
After Image was one of nearly 100 submissions sent to the festival by local high school and college students - with only 10 making the cut for the Oct. 2 screening at the Madison Theater in Albany. The goal of the festival is to showcase and celebrate the best films produced by regional students.
