New York state has implemented new immunization requirements for students to
enter school, effective with the 2015-16 school year. Parents are asked to
review the changes and contact their child's doctor to make sure they have met
the requirements for the start of the year.
The changes primarily relate to the DTap, MMR, and polio immunizations and the new requirement that students have their full series of those immunizations prior to entering school. Previously the final doses could be administered within the age range of 4 to 6 years old.
The changes do not impact students entering grades 8-12 in September 2015.
Please contact your child's doctor this summer if you have any questions.
Parents should ensure that a complete copy of their child's immunization record is on file with the school. Records can be forwarded to the main office of your child's school over the summer.
