across the Birchwood community came together for some community
building on Friday and Saturday, July 10-11: They constructed
the school's new playground.
Following the successful community build, coordinated by the school's PTO, the playground is almost ready for use. One piece of equipment and the ground surface is all that is needed for students to begin enjoying it. The playground is expected to be complete and open later in the summer.
The previous structure was taken down for safety reasons last fall. The new play area is being funded by the district and the PTO. The PTO raised more than $15,000 in less than a year for enhancements to supplement the playground provided by the district. The campaign was successful thank to the generosity of community members, businesses, and partners.
About 75 people came together for the July 10-11 playground work.
Birchwood will post a note on its website when the playground is officially open for business!
