Dear Niskayuna Families:
As September approaches, our goal is to make sure your family has the information needed to plan for a successful year. This memo contains some information that we would like to remind our families about, including avenues for communication that the district has in place. Communication is a particularly important element of a strong partnership between school and home. We wish you all the best in the coming school year!
The district calendar of events is posted on our website at www.niskayunaschools.org/calendar. From time-to-time, there are changes to the school calendar. The calendar on the district website and on all school homepages will be updated as schedule changes are necessary. You can also sign-up to receive calendar changes by e-mail via School News Notifier (SNN). You must sign-up for the SNN system if you would like to receive these e-mails; You can register https://snn.neric.org/niskayuna. SNN is also a great source for district and school news and announcements. Important note: If your child has changed schools, please update your SNN notifications.
The district website is the best resource for the latest district news and announcements, forms, documents and publications; and contact information for staff and faculty, including links to teacher web pages.
More than 1,000 community members have connected with the district's official Facebook page, used for news and announcements, and to feature photographs, information, and accomplishments of students and our schools. Please join us at http://www.facebook.com/NiskayunaCSD.
The Niskayuna PTO uses an e-mail service called Buzzable. E-mail lists for each school are used frequently to promote events and activities and send reminders. Subscribe to Buzzable at http://www.niskypto.org/mailing-lists.
Niskayuna PTOs have announced a new process for compiling the information that goes in school directories. Parents are asked to register online at a secure site if they would like to be included in their school's PTO Directory to be published this fall. LEARN MORE HERE
When school is closed, delayed, or dismissed early due to weather, this information will always be:
The district also maintains an automated phone system for emergency situations that present an urgent need to reach parents. It is important to make sure that the district has your most accurate phone number. Please check the emergency contact information card provided to all families at the beginning of the year.
Students in families meeting federal income guidelines are eligible for free or reduced-price lunches. More information and applications for free or reduced-price lunches are available on the district website, in all school offices, and by calling Food Services Director Suzanne Wixom at 518-377-4666, x50730. Lunch menus are posted on each school's web page (Look for the "What's for Lunch?" icon.) In addition to school lunches, each school also serves breakfast daily, with a variety of options available. For more information about school meals, call Ms. Wixom at the number above.
