In early June, students in the Niskayuna Student Work Program welcomed the
many business, community, and district partners they worked with this year to a
breakfast to say thank you for a year filled with experiences that will help
them well into the future.
The breakfast also celebrated all that students have accomplished this year, and allowed them to thank their job coaches and families. Students have volunteered at the Northeast Regional Food Bank, greeted customers at the Niskayuna Co-Op, learned how to use the CDTA system, helped out in the Hillside library and high school cafeteria, and so much more. A slideshow shown at the breakfast, narrated by the students in the program, depicted the year's many activities.
The multi-faceted program prepares students in grades 9-12 for a career through pre-vocational, real-world training and work experience at the various in-district and community sites. The program is coordinated by high school teacher John LeClerc.
