Niskayuna Central School District Assistant Superintendent for Business Matt
Bourgeois has announced that he will become the Assistant Superintendent for
Business in the Minisink Valley Central School District in Orange County,
following an 18-year career in Niskayuna. He will begin his new position in
October of this year.
During his tenure in Niskayuna, Bourgeois helped guide the district through the historic facility improvements that resulted from the 2006 voter approval, as well as the fiscal challenges and difficult budget seasons of recent years.
"While this is exciting news for Matt, his leadership, knowledge, compassion, and upbeat approach to each day and any challenge will be missed by our school district," Interim Superintendent John Yagielski said. "This earned Matt the respect and affection of his colleagues throughout the district."
Yagielski explained that the four month period until Bourgeois begins the position will allow for the smoothest possible transition in this leadership position in the district. In the coming days, the interim superintendent said he would begin to establish a process for selecting the district's next chief business official.
