Niskayuna Interim Superintendent John Yagielski is announcing a series of meetings in the community intended to introduce himself and get to know the community.
The meetings that have been scheduled in the community so far are:
Each of the meetings is open to all members of the public. Yagielski will also be scheduling "listening tour" stops with parents, teachers, and staff at each district school for the coming weeks.
Yagielski will open each meeting with some brief remarks about the main goals that he and the Board of Education have identified as the focus of their work. The bulk of the time will be dedicated for residents to share their views and thoughts about the district. The meetings will include a short overview of the district's proposed budget for 2014-15.
Yagielski left retirement to take the interim position. He has 45 years of experience in educational leadership.
"I am happy to be here," he said. "I've come to try to help the Board, staff, and the community begin to write a new chapter for the district; a chapter that focuses primarily on students, on teaching, and on learning, and a chapter that respects and addresses the concerns of all members of the school community, including our taxpayers."
