Driver Education Program

Driver Education trains pupils in safe driving, knowledge of traffic laws, care of the car, and provides actual practice in driving with a dual-control vehicle. Students may elect to take the course in the fall or the spring. In an effort to make the sign-up process more equitable, a lottery system has been developed. Students will be notified in advance as to the dates and times for the lottery process. A New York State learner’s permit must be obtained prior to the first driving session.

Fee approx. $300        Grades 10-12
The course is offered before and after regular school hours and during the summer as part of the Summer School Program. Both programs meet the requirements of the New York State Motor Vehicle Bureau and are organized so they are taught by special arrangement with individual instructors who meet with students for classroom instruction, instruction in the driving simulator and opportunities to drive in an automobile.

Students will be given the opportunity to register for Driver Education prior to the beginning of each session.
