AFS students arrive in Niskayuna

Welcome to four American Field Service (AFS)
students, who will be living with Niskayuna families and attending Niskayuna High School
this school year. They are: David Rudolf (of Hungary), Lundovic Guerot (of France), Marta
Trez (of Italy) and Katrin Pfoser (of Austria). Above is Katrin Pfoser with her hosts, the
Dosch family (from left): Katrin, Marcia, Marina, Stefan and Bill Dosch. Welcome students!
September is National Youth Court Month
The Schenectady County
Legislature recently recognized the Niskayuna Youth Court,
commending the organization for its commitment to improving the
lives of youth and families in our community. In youth court,
offenders are judged by a jury of their peers, and the aim is to
help them avoid future criminal behavior. Several student
members spoke to the legislature about Niskayuna Youth Court:
Nicole Bieber, Lauren DeBlase, Sean Evanoff, Jessica LaVallee,
Neal Mehrotra, Jason Moskowitz and Erin Sherman. Great job
students!
Alplaus reunion planned for September 30
Everyone associated with Alplaus in the 1940s --

Final tax rates lower than projected
Residents received tax bills
in September
that included smaller increases than projected in May.

Attention parents: High School Nott Street entrance closed in afternoon
The Nott Street East entrance to Niskayuna High
School is now closed to all traffic except school buses from 2:30-3 p.m.

Fall sports underway

The fall sports teams began practice and try-outs

2004-05 calendar distributed
The 2004-05 district calendar has been mailed to
parents with current Niskayuna students. Additional calendars are available at the
District Office, Niskayuna Town Hall, and town library. To have a calendar mailed to you,
call 377-4666, Ext. 207 or e-mail the
Communications Office your name and address. Or,

Budget Exit Survey results compiled
Why did 63% of voters support the proposed
district budget in May? Why did 37% vote against it? Results of the 2004 Budget Exit
Survey have now been compiled, representing 299 voters' opinions. The report can be downloaded here as a PDF document.*
