Classes of 1969, 1979, 1984 and 1999 plan reunions
Several class reunions are in the works,

International Exchange Club conducts annual fundraising event
Members of the Niskayuna High School International Exchange Club
will be going into Niskayuna neighborhoods weekday evenings November 15-18, seeking
donations for exchange student activities. Details

High School staff, students spend Saturday helping Habitat for Humanity

On Saturday, October 23 many Niskayuna High School students
and staff spent the day working on two Habitat for Humanity houses being built in
Schenectady. They had a very productive day, painting the entire interior of one house and
landscaping both houses. Great job!
Learn about today's drugs and alcohol from experts
D.A.R.E. and N-CAP are sponsoring a public forum,
"Current/Designer Drugs and Alcohol," at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, November 17
(tonight!) in the high school auditorium. Everyone is invited to attend.

Russian Educator visits Niskayuna schools
At left, Russian educator Anna Zelentsova
answers Van Antwerp student questions about
Russian culture November 5. She also spent part of the day talking
with Niskayuna High School students and staff. Anna's visit was part of
the Civics Mosaic program, an exchange program of American and
Russian teachers that is sponsored and organized by The Council for
Citizenship Education at The Sage Colleges.
Varsity Golf Team named Section 2 Champions
Congratulations
to the Varsity Golf Team, which recently capped an undefeated season in league play by
winning the Section 2 championship tournament. The team members are: Bryan Barach, Chris
Barach, Ben Kelly, Justin Klemballa, James Sherrill, Russell Singer, Eddie Torres and Jim
Warczak. Coach for the team is Niskayuna Psychologist Vic Greco. Three players will also
represent Section 2 at the NY State Tournament in June (Chris, Ben and Justin).

Niskayuna Drama Club presents comedy
The Niskayuna Drama Club presents "Arsenic and Old Lace" in the high
school's Little Theater Thursday, November 11 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, November 12 at 7:30
p.m.; and Saturday, November 13 at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 for adults and $5
for students and seniors. Tickets will be sold at the door, or call the English Department
to reserve tickets at 382-2511, Ext. 4351.
The Name-A-Chair Project
Everyone is invited to donate to the future
success of the Niskayuna Performing Arts programs by sponsoring a seat in the High School

Iroquois Cook-Manager receives scholarships
Congratulations to Iroquois Cook-Manager Jackie
Koreman, who recently received three scholarships from the New York State School Food
Service Association, which she will use to complete a registered dietitian and
nutritionist degree. Congratulations!
1,000-Book Kid Program begins love of reading early
Each of the elementary schools offer this free
program to families with preschoolers. Details
Board of Education appoints administrator
Congratulations to Celeste Keane, who was appointed Administrator for Human
Resources/Director of Counseling by the board on October 18. Mrs. Keane will begin in the
district in January, succeeding retiring administrator Frank Tedesco. Welcome!
Bel Canto Voices perform at state conference

Congratulations to the high school's Bel Canto Voices, who
performed at the New York State School Boards Association's annual convention in Buffalo
October 21. The event draws 2,500+ school board members and educators from across New York
state, and only three student groups statewide were chosen to perform. While in Buffalo,
students also donated more than 500 books to Buffalo elementary schools. Great job
students!
Community Role Model Award, Special Education, drugs and alcohol among topics of upcoming
forums
Everyone is invited to attend three forums this
month focusing on various topics affecting students. See listings in the "Upcoming
Events" calendar at right for details.
