Thank you
voters!
On Tuesday, January 24, voters
approved the proposed $94.5 million construction project by a
vote of 2,712 to 1,553 (about 64 percent of voters approved the
project).
"We are
thrilled and thank the community for its support," said
Superintendent Kevin Baughman. "This vote reflects Niskayuna
residents' pride in their students and schools, and the value
they place on education."

Hall of Fame nominations sought
The deadline for nominations for Niskayuna High
School's 2006 Hall of Fame is January 31. The hall honors graduates who have distinguished
themselves in a specific field of endeavor, such as civic or humanitarian affairs.

Middle school students win Geography Bee
Congratulations to the following
Iroquois and Van Antwerp middle school students, who recently
won the Geography Bee in their schools: from Iroquois, Jackson
Montrym (1st place) and Andrew Roberts (2nd place); from Van
Antwerp, Helen Willis (1st) and Troy Manchester (2nd).

Building project video on TV-17
A video summarizing the
district's proposed building project can now be seen daily on
Time Warner Cable Channel 17.

Attention high school students: Math Department
hosts Regents review
The Math Department is
holding review classes for the Math A and Math B exams in
January: Mondays & Wednesdays from 2:45-4 p.m. and Tuesdays &
Thursdays from 6:45-7:30 a.m. Call the Math Department at

Parents of preschoolers invited to "A Peek into
Kindergarten"
All parents of
Niskayuna preschoolers are invited to "A Peek into
Kindergarten," an evening program about preparing students for
kindergarten on Wednesday, January 18 at 7 p.m. at Rosendale
Elementary School. Details
NYSSMA Piano registration form
For students performing in the NYSSMA solo piano
competition March 17-18 at Schenectady County Community College,
the registration form can be

"Spiral On" exhibit at Nisk-Art Gallery through
January 12
"Spiral On," a
collaborative collage by Hillside students celebrating the
district's 50th anniversary will be on display in the Nisk-Art
gallery January 3-12.

Residents invited to final meeting on building
project
The Board of Education is hosting
a public meeting on the district's proposed $94.5 million
building project on Thursday, January 12 at 7 p.m. in the
Van Antwerp Middle School auditorium. The evening's agenda will
include a brief presentation on the project and an opportunity
for public questions.
Alumni to visit Niskayuna High School
On Friday, January 6
Niskayuna alumni from the Class of 2005 will share what they
have learned about college selection and the transition from
high school to college at Alumni Day.

Final F.I.T. meeting January 5
The district's
Facilities Information Team is scheduled to meet Thursday,
January 5 at 7 p.m. in the Van Antwerp Middle School auditorium.
