Niskayuna High School Concert Chorale on TV
Bring in the holidays with the high school's Concert Chorale
-- the group (under the direction of Paula Brinkman) is part of WMHT-TV Channel 11's
"Music for the Holidays" series. The 30-minute concerts will air: December 24 at
5:30 p.m. and December 25 at 9:30 a.m.
Your help is needed!
Do you have preschool children living in your
household? Are you expecting any additions to your family? Do you have school-age children
not enrolled in Niskayuna schools? We need your help to update the district census. A
letter was mailed to all Niskayuna district residents, or it can be downloaded here -- in Microsoft Word format, or PDF format. Thank you for your help in keeping
the district census up-to-date!
Iroquois project at Albany Institute of History and Art
For 19 years, former Iroquois Middle School
students wrote letters to U.S. Navy personnel as part of retired teacher Carol LaRow's
English class. Now the project is part of a display at the Albany Institute of History and

Niskayuna High School family named New York State Special Olympics Volunteer Family of the
Year
Congratulations to the Stopera Family, who was
named Special Olympics Volunteer Family of the Year for their extensive work with
the Special Olympics. The family includes Niskayuna High School Teacher Michelle Stopera,
Niskayuna High School senior Matthew, Iroquois eighth-grader David, Niskayuna High School
2002 graduate Chris and father Daniel. The family has volunteered with Special Olympics
since 1998, coaching golf and bowling athletes. Congratulations!
Congratulations to National Board Certified teachers
Congratulations
to the following teachers, who recently achieved National Board Certification: Mary
Hanchar, Monica Judd, Kelly Linehan, Connie Soron and Lisa Stanziano. The
certification is considered the highest credential in the teaching profession, and
involves a rigorous assessment process. Congratulations!

Clifton Park Elks donate dictionaries to Niskayuna third-graders

As part of a national program called the
Dictionary Project, the Clifton Park Elks are donating dictionaries to all Niskayuna third
graders for three years, beginning with this year's third-graders. Above, Miss Conboy's
class at Craig Elementary School proudly display their dictionaries, which they received
during a ceremony with Clifton Park Elks member Allan Atwell (front row, center) on
November 18.
Web site grows in size, popularity in first year
Happy Birthday www.niskayunaschools.org! On October 1 this web site celebrated one year of providing the
community with a wide variety of up-to-date information. But did you know, the site has
