Flu alert for parents
There has been an increase in the number of Niskayuna students with flu-like symptoms. To help prevent the spread of illness, please note the following:
If students are ill, please keep them home until they are feeling better. If your child has a fever, please make sure he/she is fever-free for 24 hours before returning to school.
Encourage your child to wash his/her hands periodically throughout the day to prevent the spread of germs.
Help ensure your child gets enough sleep.
If you have questions or concerns, please contact your student's physician or school nurse.

Congratulations Teachers
Congratulations to nine Niskayuna teachers, who recently achieved National Board Certification. The certification is considered the highest credential in the teaching profession, and involves a rigorous assessment process. The teachers are: Melissa Bergin, Mary Eads, Catherine Snyder, Stacey Dawes, Marna Lehnert-Chaky, Sean O'Connell, Dee Steeley, Michelle Sausa-Gatta and Jackie Albanese. Congrats!

50th Anniversary Booklets available
Sixty-page booklets recounting the district's history are now available at every school, Niskayuna Town Hall and the district office. The booklets contain lots of photos and history written by community, staff and parents. Get your copy today!

Van Antwerp Middle School helps Ronald McDonald House
Above, students from Ms. Giaccone's homeroom were recognized recently by McDonald's Store Manager Lisa Zink for collecting the most money in a coin collection organized by the Van Antwerp Student Council. Overall, the school donated $647.21. Good job students!
