District charts progress on 2003-04 goals
Last fall the Board of
Education established goals for the 2003-04 school year, from
developing a high school senior survey to beginning an academic
program review. Now that the school year is over, how did the district do?

Middle School summer reading lists posted
Do you have a student planning to attend a
Niskayuna middle school next fall? Then help your student prepare for September by
checking out the Summer Reading Lists. The lists for
both middle schools are the same, and can be found on the Van Antwerp Middle School pages.

Freshman orientation
All freshman are
reminded that orientation is scheduled for
Tuesday, August 31 from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Niskayuna
High School. Lunch will be provided. Questions? Call the Guidance
Office at 382-2511, Ext. 4324.
District seeks input on kindergarten
Would you like the
district to offer full-day kindergarten? Would you be willing to
pay for it? The district is now surveying all residents on
kindergarten. To
voice your opinion, fill out a Community Survey. (Please
submit no more than one survey per family. Families who
completed surveys that were mailed with their children's report
cards need not fill out this survey). The Community Survey will
also be sent to all households in the June/July edition of Your
Schools.
D.A.R.E. creates Family Running Program
D.A.R.E. is kicking off a summer running program
beginning in July. Open to all families, come join others for fun evening runs at
Niskayuna High School and River Road Park. Details [This

community.
