Lynne Rutnik named to head up Office for Student
Support Services
Lynne C. Rutnik was named the
administrator for student support services, effective
Sept 2.
Rutnik will oversee the district’s special
education programs and support services. Her
experience in the field of special education
spans more than 15 years. She most recently
served as the Academic Administrator for Special
Education Services in the Shenendehowa Central
School District, where she supervised more than
50 special educators and an equal number of
teaching assistants. Rutnik’s prior
administrative experience includes six years at
the Capital Region BOCES as a supervisor and
principal responsible for overseeing nearly 20
special education programs and 120 special
educators and support staff. She also worked in
the Cairo-Durham Central School District as a
special education teacher, where she co-chaired the grades K-6 Committee on Special
Education. Rutnik initially began her career at
the Parsons Children Center in Albany as a
child-care worker, teaching assistant and
special educator for five years.
“Lynne is a proven leader in the area of special
education and comes to our district with a
wealth of experience and accomplishment,” said
Superintendent of Schools Kevin Baughman. “Her
knowledge, energetic leadership style and
commitment to children and families will only
strengthen our program and make a positive
difference for our students with special needs.”
Rutnik completed her baccalaureate degree in
psychology at the State University of
Plattsburgh and her Master of Science in Special
Education from The College of Saint Rose. She
earned a Certificate of Advanced Study in
Educational Administration from the University
at Albany, and holds permanent certification in
special education and educational
administration.
