Rosendale ribbon-cutting
officially opens new playground
Although the rain outside forced the ceremony to
be moved indoors, it did not dampen the spirit
of celebration at Rosendale Elementary School as
students, faculty, staff, parents and special
guests celebrated “Kids’ World II,” the school’s
new playground.
On Friday, Sept. 26, school officials, students
and members of the playground committee were
joined by Niskayuna Town Supervisor Joe Landry,
Schenectady County Legislator Susan Savage,
Assembly Minority Leader James Tedisco, Senator
Hugh Farley and other special guests in a
ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially open the
new playground facility.
One special guest—a familiar face to
all—recently retired school principal Brian
Aylward was recognized with a town proclamation
for his many, many years of service to Niskayuna
schools and children.
Representatives of the playground project
committee thanked state and local leaders for
their generous support of the playground
project. They also thanked the many parents,
staff and community members for volunteering
their time and effort to help build the
playground in May.
“We are truly fortunate to live in a community
rich with such dedication, thoughtfulness and
enthusiasm,” said Suzanne Wolfe, playground
committee co-chair, “making it possible to
accomplish extraordinary things together.”
The new playground is named after the original
“Kids’ World,” the school playground for the
past 20 years. The new equipment, featuring
climbing ropes, tube slides, swings and more,
was selected with input from Rosendale students.
The new facility was designed and created for
all community children to discover and enjoy for
years to come.
