The Middle Ground receives national recognition
Congratulations to Niskayuna's middle school students and teachers responsible for creating the 2006 edition of The Middle Ground!
This middle school anthology of literature and art received a ranking of Excellent from the National Conference of Teachers of English (NCTE) in its annual Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines.
The Program to Recognize Excellence in Student Literary Magazines honors quality literary magazines from middle schools, junior high schools, and high schools in the United States, Canada, and American schools abroad. The Middle Ground was among the 236 student magazines selected nationwide – 25 in New York State – for this distinction.
To receive a rank of Excellent, judges must consider the magazine to have an extremely high quality of writing; include a variety of genres; have meticulous editing; include some writings from other subject areas; design and graphics that are attractive and pertinent to writings; and students have strong roles in editorial, production, and business aspects.
