Congratulations
to the Class of 2007!
Proctor's
Theatre in Schenectady was practically filled to capacity with
well-wishers cheering the Class of 2007 during Niskayuna High
School's commencement on Thursday, June 21. Nearly 350 graduates
walked across the stage to collect their diplomas following an
evening of memories, music, inspiration and tradition. Class of
2007 President Alexandra Leece addressed fellow graduates,
family, friends, faculty, administrators and staff before
passing the school flag to President of the Class of 2008 Jenna
Havis. Graduating seniors presented three remarkable musical
performances. Laura Isabella sang the moving “Think of Me” from
Phantom of the Opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber. Violinist
Leo Brown performed two classical pieces, “Beau Soir” composed
by Claude DeBussy and “Zigeunerweisen” by Pablo de Sarasate. Six
classmates including William Burkey, Ben Golub, Amity Higgins,
Emma Ladouceur, Jennifer Lefsyk and Emily Payton joined together
in a performance of the Beatles' classic, “In My Life,”
co-written by John Lennon and Paul McCartney. Congratulations
graduates!

Recommended
summer reading for middle school students
Summer reading helps develop strong literacy skills and lasting
reading habits. To make sure children exercise their minds as
well as their bodies during the summer, encourage them to read a
good book or two. Summer reading also prepares students for the
upcoming school year. For your reference, middle school
librarians and teachers have put together lists of summer
reading activities and programs. (The following documents are
