Board of Education appoints Administrator of
Physical Education, Health and Athletics
The
Niskayuna Central School District Board of
Education has appointed Lawrence Gillooley as
Administrator of Physical Education, Health and
Athletics, effective January 2, 2007. Gillooley will oversee physical education and
health, as well as coordinate the district’s
athletic program. He will manage daily
administrative operations such as hiring
teachers and coaches, observing and evaluating
physical education staff and health educators,
providing staff development opportunities, and
appropriating equipment and supplies for his
departments.
During the past five years, Gillooley served as
the Assistant Director of Health, Physical
Education Family and Consumer Science and
Athletics in the Guilderland Central School
District. He previously served as summer school
principal, teacher and coach for the Schenectady
City School District. He began his career as a
physical education teacher and coach of varsity
football, modified basketball and freshman
baseball at Albany Academy for Boys.
“We are fortunate to have someone of Larry’s
caliber and experience joining our
administrative team. He will be a great asset to
Niskayuna’s academic and athletic program,” said
Superintendent Kevin Baughman.
Gillooley earned his administrative
certification from the College of Saint Rose,
his Bachelor of Science in Physical Education
from Norwich University and his master’s from
Ithaca College. He is a member of the New York
State Athletic Administrators Association and
the National Interscholastic Athletic
Administrators Association.
Gillooley succeeds Ronald Grastorf who recently
accepted the position of Administrator for Human
Resources in the Niskayuna school district.
