Intro to Medical Science students gain hands-on
experience with sutures
Students in the Niskayuna High School
Introduction to Medical Sciences class learned
how to do sutures during a special visit from
Dr. Brian Gordon in early October. The course is taught by Science
Director Jackie Carrese. It is is designed to
help prepare students interested in entering a
two or four year college program in a health or
medical related profession. Whether interested
in being a pharmacist, nurse, doctor, or
technician, etc. Introduction to Medical
Sciences exposes students to the many branches
of medicine. They are instructed in standard
diagnostic techniques, treatment procedures,
medical terminology, medical reporting,
biomedical ethics, and an introduction to
legal/insurance aspects of the health
professions.
