At special performances, fifth graders get a look at instrumental options

Fifth grade students across the district were treated to the exciting sounds of various band instruments on Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10 and 11, as the district instrumental music faculty traveled to each elementary school to present instrument demonstration assemblies.

Students had the opportunity to hear the wide variety of instruments that are available to play in 5th grade through the district's instrumental school lesson program. In the coming days all interested students will attend a one-on-one conference with their parents and the school music teacher to try out several instruments and choose one to study. This careful individual attention helps ensure student growth and success through creating a good match between each student and their new instrument.
