REGISTRATION INFORMATION
Niskayuna Central School District
residents in grades 9-12 during the 2007-2008 school
year may register on Tuesday June ___ from 9 am 12
pm (in the guidance
department).
Non-residents may also register during this time.
Niskayuna High School Students will have priority in
selection of classes if over enrollment occurs.
NOTE:
Non-residents and students not enrolled at Niskayuna
High School must present a letter signed by their
school principal stating their qualifications to
take a summer school course.
Course
offerings and times will be determined according to
enrollment data. Course offerings will be determined
as of June ___. This will enable students
who may wish to enroll in another summer school
program to do so if their chosen course(s) are not
offered.

CLASS SCHEDULE
All classes (except for driver education) will be
conducted at the High School Monday through Thursday
at the following times:

schedule of courses will be posted on the doors in
front of Niskayuna High School on June 30th.

ATTENDANCE POLICY
Due to the condensed nature of the courses, regular
attendance and participation is required. It is
expected that students attend class every day summer
school is in session. Students who are absent will
not receive participation credit for missed class
time. Any student who accrues more than three
absences in a course will be denied credit for that
course.
Excuses for an absence must be signed by a parent or
guardian, and must be presented on the day following
an absence. All absences, regardless of reason, will
result in loss of participation credit for the day.
Attendance will be taken by teachers according to
the following guidelines:

Student is tardy, arrives less than 15 minutes
late
........½ absence

Student is tardy, arrives more than 15 minutes
late
.....1 absence

Student misses entire class session for any
reason

STUDENT CONDUCT
The same standards of student conduct that apply at
Niskayuna High School during the regular school year
will be in effect during the summer school session.
Smoking is not allowed in the building or on school
grounds. Please consult the Code of Conduct in the
Niskayuna High School Handbook for further
explanation of student expectations.

offerings. All courses are remedial in nature,
except Driver Education. Course that have been

FEES
All students must pay a non-refundable $___
registration fee to enroll in Summer School.
Non-resident tuition is $___ per course. Refund
rates (if a course is dropped) are as follows: 75%
refund if dropped by July ___, 50% refund if
dropped by July __, no refund thereafter. Requests
for refunds should be in writing,

EXAMS
Students who register to take exams who are
non-district residents must pay an additional $15.00
correcting and reporting fee for each exam taken.
WALK IN registrants
not attending summer school but wishing to take
Regents Exams or RCTs must also pay a
non-refundable registration fee of $3.00. Students
wishing to register to take exams should do so
during the regular registration days. STUDENTS MUST
PRE-REGISTER FOR REGENTS OR RCTS TO ALLOW TIME FOR
EXAMS TO BE ORDERED. THE FINAL DEADLINE FOR EXAM
REGISTRATION IS JULY 6th.

DRIVER EDUCATION
Students wishing to take Driver Education in summer
school must sign up to do so with Mrs. Panico in the
Niskayuna High School Main Office by June ___. First
priority will be given to district residents
according to grade level. Any student enrolling must
be 16 years of age by July __, 2008 according to
New York State Education Department regulations.
This program is self-funded, therefore a fee of $___
will be charged.
ALL STUDENTS IN DRIVER
EDUCATION MUST PRESENT A VALID LEARNERS PERMIT ON
THE FIRST DAY OF CLASS.
THE $___ FEE SHOULD BE PAID BY CHECK PAYABLE TO
NISKAYUNA CENTRAL SCHOOLS.
Students in Driver Education must complete a minimum
of 48 hours of instruction (class time, the use of a
simulator, in-car and behind the wheel experience)
in order to receive their certification of
completion. Students should understand that
enrolling in Driver Education entails a commitment
of several hours each day this may mean that taking
other classes during the summer is not possible.
NO REFUNDS will be
issued to students who have more than one absence in
Driver Education or who drop the course after the
class has begun.
