Community
celebrates NiskaYUnity
on Saturday May 19
On May 19, join family, neighbors and friends
for Niska-Day — the
longest-running community celebration in the
area.
Since September, committee members have been preparing to make this Niska-Day
the most memorable to date.
Niska-Day kicks off with the Family Fun Run at
Van Antwerp Middle School at 8:30 a.m., followed
by the parade at 10 a.m.
Then head over to Niskayuna High School for the
afternoon where youngsters will enjoy story time with Clifford the Big Red Dog,
and magicians, jugglers and clowns will entertain children of all
ages. The more athletically adventurous may test
their skills on the rock climbing wall. Animal
lovers should plan to visit the petting zoo and
ponies.
Annual activities include the craft fair,
information tents featuring local businesses and
civic groups, caricatures.
One of the area's most popular bands – the
Refrigerators – will perform
under the “big tent” beginning at 6 p.m. The daylong
celebration
will literally end with a bang (or several) as a
spectacular fireworks gets underway at 9:30 p.m.
A schedule of Niska-Day
events is available
here.
Niska-Day is coordinated and sponsored by
volunteers from N-CAP (Niskayuna Community
Action Plan). |
