In June of 2012, the Board of Education began charting a course for
the future of the district’s middle school
program with the first in a series of
conversations on topics of focus.
These conversations have continued through the
fall, often taking place at the start of the
Board's regularly scheduled meetings. In
October, two community meetings were held.
The
visioning process stems from the Middle
School Review report delivered in December 2011
by outside educational consultants who spent a
year studying all aspects of the district’s
middle school program. The report contained a
variety of short-term and long-term
recommendations for improvement.

members said that any option to close a school
should be evaluated in the context of the other
reductions that will be considered during the
budget process. The budget process and
configuration conversation will continue at the
